If his clothing weren't so dirty all the time, some would mistake Malvick as a small town sheriff. His travelling leather coat was dotted with mud, a witch like leather hat shaded his eyes. His square jaw was hard, not made much softer by a well trimmed beard. The charcoal wolfhound by his side almost seemed to dwarf the average sized man.
Previously a militia man from Korvosa, Malvick knows both loyalty and betrayal. Compromised by both his unit commander and fellow scout, Malvick now trusts only man's best friend. He is never seen without his wolf hound by his side. Following the almost complete obliteration of his unit, Malvick turned to more unofficial channels throughout the realm for information and survival, and eventually learned that his former commander had been in the employ of the Red Mantis, a cadre of deadly assassins, and his unit had been victims of a petty powerplay between two of Korvosa's ruling families.
Malvick's attempt at revenge ended in a failed assassination attempt, and Malvick was forced to flee the city of his birth. Since then he has been operating as a scout and mercenary in the rural fronier between Magnimar and Sandpoint, always with an ear out for clues about the mysterious Red Mantis.
